Hanson to host tourney

Jacksonville Jaguars' punter Chris Hanson will host a golf tournament on Monday, April 12 at Palencia Golf Club with proceeds benefiting the CHILD Cancer Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting children and their families through the ordeal of a childhood cancer diagnosis and treatment.

"When I first heard about the CHILD Cancer Fund and what they do, I was excited about wanting to get involved. Families who are going through this trying time need to be with their children while they are going through treatment," stated Hanson. "When parents are away from their jobs for an extended period of time, their everyday living expenses can really add up. That's where the CHILD Cancer Fund steps in and helps them stay afloat," he added.

Four person teams will participate in the Captain's Choice format. Several of Chris's teammates and other local celebrities will participate in the tournament. Pairings will be determined prior to the 1:00 p.m. start. Corporate level spots are still available at a cost of $1,500 per foursome.

Raffle prizes donated and provided by local businesses will include; sports memorabilia, gift certificates to local restaurants, hotel/resort getaways and other prizes.

The CHILD Cancer Fund was established in 1994 by a group of Jacksonville parents whose children were receiving treatment for cancer at Wolfson Children's Hospital and Nemour's Children's Clinic. The team effort inspired the foundation of the CHILD Cancer Fund, whose financial assistance program assists families who are facing financial hardship due to their child's diagnosis and treatment. The fund provides assistance with housing, transportation, utilities, food and other expenses that insurance doesn't cover.
