The transition from Wayne Weaver to Shad Khan as Jaguars owner took place in late 2011, in the weeks and months after Weaver announced the sale of the team he had owned since its 1993 inception.

The official date of Khan taking over was January 4, 2012, and marked the only ownership change in franchise history to date.

Khan, born in 1950 in Pakistan, earned his wealth as owner of Flex-N-Gate – a manufacturer of auto parts. In a little more than three years as owner, he has helped the face and image of the organization change while maintaining ties to its past, implementing new uniforms, new helmets and a new logo design -- all of which were developed with an eye for the future while paying homage to the organization's history.

Khan in 2012 hired Mike Mularkey as head coach, then the following offseason hired David Caldwell as general manager, who subsequently replaced Mularkey as head coach with former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Gus Bradley.
