Jags host HS combine

The Jaguars will host their third National High School All-Star Combine on Wednesday, March 10 at 3:30 p.m. at ALLTEL Stadium on the team's practice fields. NHSASC is designed to expose rising seniors to every college in the United States and will enable college recruiters to review more student-athletes than ever before.

The combine is patterned after the NFL combine, which is held each year in Indianapolis for NFL draft-eligible players. Thirteen NFL teams hosted NHSASC combines last year, including the Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns and Carolina Panthers. More than 1,600 high school players participated in the combines nationwide last year.

Athletes will participate in the 40-yard dash, the shuttle run, the 185-pound bench press, the long jump and the vertical leap. Each player will be weighed, and their height and arm span will be measured. Each participant will receive a T-shirt. Participants need only to bring shoes to perform on grass. The fee is $20 per athlete. The fee covers the cost of insurance, trainers and administrative costs. Each athlete will be required to fill out an application and waiver form, which must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. The combine is limited to the first 100 student-athletes.

Media outlets are invited and encouraged to attend this event. For registration forms or more information contact Don Zoloty at (440) 289-7864.
