The Jacksonville Jaguars' 1998 training camp will begin on Thursday, July 23 when all 24 rookies on the team's roster are expected to report. Veteran players are scheduled to report the morning of Friday, July 24. The first practice session will take place on Friday, July 24 at 3:20 p.m. on the Ferrell Fields adjacent to ALLTEL Stadium. Training camp will be open to the public for viewing practice sessions from July 24 through Monday, August 17, which will be the final day of two-a-day practice sessions. There is no admission charge for training camp, and parking will be available in the parking lots on the East side of the stadium.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE: The schedule throughout training camp is subject to change, but currently is as follows:
FANS TRAINING CAMP HOTLINE: Beginning Friday, July 24, fans may call the Jaguars Fans Training Camp Hotline for a recorded message which gives the daily practice schedule. The phone number is (904) 633-6525. The message will be updated daily - and as any changes are made to the practice schedule - beginning July 24 through the end of training camp on August 17.
FAN GUIDELINES: As stated earlier, training camp practice sessions will be open for viewing by the public from Friday, July 24 through the afternoon practice on Monday, August 17. Bleacher seating which will accomodate approximately 1,800 people will be provided along the North side of the practice fields. Restroom facilities and concession stands will also be provided in the area of the South end of the stadium. Concession stands will include food and beverages as well as merchandise, including training-camp-specific T-shirts and caps. The Jaguars' 1998 Media Guide will also be available for $8, as well as subscriptions for Jaguars Inside Report, the team's official newspaper.
Fans may park in the stadium lots on the East side of the stadium (Lots C, D, E, F). For fans attending practice sessions, videocameras are prohibited, along with horns, whistles and other noisemakers. Still cameras are allowed.
Fans wishing to get autographs are asked to do so after each practice session, outside the practice field fence as the players return to the lockerroom, although players do have mandatory weightlifting sessions after practice. Because of the full schedule during training camp, it is not possible to schedule autograph or photo sessions. Groups wishing to visit training camp do not need to make special arrangements; they may watch practice from the bleachers.
