Jaguars Activate Soward, Place Bryant on Injured Reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars have activated wide receiver R. Jay Soward from the reserve/suspended list and placed cornerback Fernando Bryant on injured reserve. Bryant suffered a foot injury in the December 3 game vs. Green Bay and missed the last three games. For the season, he started nine of 10 games played and made 56 tackles.

Cornerback Aaron Beasley and linebacker T.J. Slaughter have undergone arthroscopic surgery at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute. Beasley, who was injured in the December 9 game at Cincinnati, had surgery on his left shoulder, while Slaughter had surgery on his right shoulder after having chronic issues with it all season (he was eventually sidelined with a knee injury in the Green Bay game). The surgeries were performed by Dr. Carlos Tandron and Dr. William Pujadas.

Also, the Jaguars signed wide receiver Henry Douglas to their practice squad. Douglas is a first-year player who spent the last three training camps with the Detroit Lions and was on their practice squad the second half of the 2000 season. The 5-11, 167-pound Douglas lettered four years at North Carolina A&T. He is 24.
