Jaguars add Greisen

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed unrestricted free agent linebacker Nick Greisen to a contract today. Greisen had spent the previous four seasons with the New York Giants.

Greisen was originally a fifth round draft choice by the Giants in 2002, the 152nd pick overall. He has started 20 of 54 career games and recorded 155 tackles, four sacks, six forced fumbles and five fumble recoveries.

Greisen, 26, produced his best career season in 2005 as he started a career-high 12 games at weakside linebacker and ranked fourth on the club with 79 tackles. He led the team with a career-high four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

In 2004, he played in 15 games with seven starts and finished the season with 72 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He saw action mostly on special teams in his first two seasons, ranking fourth on the club with 15 special teams tackles in 2003. He was a two-year starter at Wisconsin and was named All-Big 10 as a senior.

With the addition of Greisen the Jaguars roster stands at 67 players.
