The Jacksonville Jaguars claimed and were awarded rookie defensive back Don Carey off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. The Jaguars waived rookie defensive back Mesphin Forrester.
Carey, 5-11, 192, was selected in the sixth round (177th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft by the Browns and was waived on August 6. He was a four-year starter at Norfolk State where he played safety and cornerback. He finished with five interceptions as a senior and garnered All-MEAC honors as a junior and senior. He played in the East-West Shrine Game following his senior season.
A native of Norfolk, Va., Carey attended Booker T. Washington High School where he played defensive back, receiver and was a return specialist.
