Jaguars offensive tackle Tony Boselli and wide receiver Jimmy Smith were named to the AFC Pro Bowl squad today. Boselli will start in the game to be played on February 4 in Honolulu, while Smith is a backup on the 42-man squad.
Boselli is marking his fifth consecutive selection to the Pro Bowl and fourth straight start, both the most of any Jaguars player. He has started all 14 games this season at left tackle after returning from a torn ACL in the 1999 season finale and has been instrumental in Fred Taylor's eight consecutive 100-yard rushing games.
Smith will be making his fourth straight Pro Bowl appearance, second most of any Jaguars player. This season, he has caught 82 passes for 1,155 yards, both fifth in the AFC, and he has scored seven touchdowns, one off the team single-season record. He missed one full game and most of two others because of a hamstring injury.
The complete AFC and NFC Pro Bowl squads will be announced tonight at 8:00 p.m. on the ESPN "NFL Pro Bowl Selection Show."
