The Jaguars finished their fourth consecutive day of two-a-days with two spirited practices today at the practice fields at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The Jaguars completed their second straight evening practice in full pads.
The Jaguars will practice four more times before Friday night's live scrimmage inside Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The scrimmage will kickoff at 7:30 p.m. and will be open to the public. Brian Sexton, Jeff Lageman and Cole Pepper will broadcast the scrimmage live on WOKV 690 AM and 106.5 FM from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
"It is like a dress rehearsal," said running back Maurice Jones-Drew on Friday night's scrimmage. "We go out there and look good, show a little bit of the moves, do a little bit here and there, practice on your trade and get ready for the preseason because that will be your opening."
Center Brad Meester suffered a cracked bone in his ankle injury in Monday night's practice and is scheduled to have surgery on Wednesday. Seventh-year veteran Dennis Norman is expected to take over the starting spot at center, as Meester is expected to be out for eight to ten weeks.
"It's real tough because he's a great player," said Tony Pashos on Meester. "Coming from another team and watching film for a number of years he definitely stands out. He is one of the better players on the team, but the way the team is structured a lot of the backups are starters. Depth is huge on this team. We are fortunate to have Dennis step up or have a guy like Dennis who is a starter you can plug in there."
Camp will continue on Wednesday with only one practice session at 1:30 p.m. (full pads) on the practice fields at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium.
