The Jacksonville Jaguars today held their first day of two-a-day practices of the 1998 training camp on Ferrell Fields outside ALLTEL Stadium.
"This first day of two-a-days is a very good start for us fundamentally, with the chance to have two solid practices," said Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin. "We worked full pads in the morning, and it is geared more towards the running game and play action. In the afternoon we worked in shoulder pads, focusing on the pass, but we had a mixture of run and pass in the afternoon practice as well."
On the team's veteran leadership, Coughlin said, "The leadership from the veterans and providing an example for the younger players is very important. Coming into this, our fourth camp, and having a core group of players who have been here since the beginning, certainly gives the right kind of message coming from the top down."
Sunday will be an off day for the players before returning on Monday for practices at 8:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m.
