JAGUARS CONTINUE PRACTICESAS GIANTS GAME NEARS

The Jacksonville Jaguars began their third week of training camp today, with their preseason opener against the New York Giants on Friday night drawing near. The team went through two full sessions on the Ferrell Practice Fields.

³We¹re just working on one practice at a time right now,² said head coach Tom Coughlin. ³We¹ll start preparing for the game as it gets close.²

Coughlin praised quarterback Mark Brunell, who has had a solid training camp. ³He generates leadership in the huddle, he has command of audibles, and he¹s been in the pocket through camp,² said Coughlin. ³He¹s starting to be more confident with the people who are running the routes.²

Last season, the Jaguars played five preseason games. This year with the opportunity to see an 81-man roster in only four preseason contests, Coughlin said, ³We¹re fortunate that cuts come late (the 60-man cutdown is August 20), so we don¹t have to worry about that for a while. But not everyone will be featured in every game.²

Guard/offensive tackle Marcus Price and offensive tackle Leon Searcy returned to practice today, leaving rookie offensive tackle Jason Dukes (sprained left ankle) as the only player out with an injury.

The Jaguars will practice again at 8:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
