The Jaguars continued their second week of training camp with two practices at Ferrell Fields today, as they begin to think about their preseason opener Sunday vs.the Carolina Panthers in ALLTEL Stadium.
"Today's practices were more intense and the players had better concentration," said head coach Tom Coughlin. "I liked the contact drills and I thought we were smarter in the 9 on 7 drills."
Coughlin said he plans to play "a lot of people against Carolina, and I'm sure Carolina will do the same thing. For the young players, it's when you get on the field that you have to be in position to make a contribution and show what you can do."
Coughlin also commented on running back James Stewart, who lost his starting job to Natrone Means after being injured late last season. "James is more powerful this year. He has better balance, he explodes into a hole and he catches the ball better. Defensive players say he's staying up better in contact drills. James is someone to reckon with."
The Jaguars will practice at 8:40 a.m. on Wednesday. There will be no afternoon practice.
