JAGUARS END 1996 MINI-CAMP

The Jacksonville Jaguars completed their 1996 minicamp today with 81 players in attendance.

We had very good enthusiasm for the three days of camp,² said Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin. ³Without question, players were prepared for the practices. They know our routine. They know we'll push them. They have a high level of work ethic. They've learned a lot from Year One to Year Two.

Coughlin cited all 10 rookies who were drafted by the Jaguars one week ago, including top draft picks linebacker Kevin Hardy and defensive end Tony Brackens.

We're a better football team right now, said Coughlin, who guided the Jaguars to a 4-12 record in their inaugural season in 1995. That doesn't mean we'll play that way. But we have better chemistry. We have a better complement of people. There will be better competition this year ‹ which means the better we'll be at various positions.²

Only two players on the Jaguars' roster did not attend the minicamp because they are currently playing in the World League ‹ linebacker Bernard Carter (Frankfurt Galaxy) and safety Darren Studstill (London Monarchs).
