Jaguars Get Ready for Panthers

The Jacksonville Jaguars went through two practice sessions today at Ferrell Fields, as they prepared for their 2001 preseason opener Friday night against the Carolina Panthers. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at ALLTEL Stadium.

"I'm very anxious to see how the rookies perform in a game. Absolutely," said Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin. "That's what these games are about. Let them play."

The Jaguars head into their first preseason game following two weeks of training camp and 18 practices. "I'm pleased," said Coughlin of the 2001 camp. "You're never where you want to be, but I'm pleased with the way they're working and their attitude. They certainly have a good attitude about camp. We have a ways to go, without a doubt, but that's why we have four preseason games and the time in training camp. You're going to have to work hard to get to where we need to be. We're on schedule."

Following Friday night's game, the Jaguars will be off on Saturday and will practice again at 8:40 a.m. and 3:20 p.m. Coughlin will be available after the morning practice. Players will be available during their lunch period, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Radisson Riverwalk Hotel.
