Jaguars Hold Final Two Practices Before Preseason Opener

The Jaguars went through their final two practices today before their preseason opener on Friday at the Atlanta Falcons.

In the morning practice, second-year offensive tackle Maurice Williams was hit in the throat and missed the afternoon practice while he was being examined. he is expected to play Friday night. In the afternoon session, wide receiver Darnay Scott suffered a sprained right shoulder.

“We’re ready to play,” said head coach Tom Coughlin. “Let’s go. Let’s see where we are. I always want to win, but we’re certainly going to win with a lot of people. It may not be pretty. But if I get the effort and I get some semblance of execution and they’re really organized and they’ll hit you, we can create some positive things. We play every game to win, but not at the expense of looking at players.”

There are 89 players on the current roster, and more than 80 are expected to make the trip to Atlanta.

On Thursday, the Jaguars will have a closed walk-though in the morning and be off the rest of the day. The team will fly to Atlanta on Friday morning, hold meetings in the afternoon and then travel to the Georgia Dome for the 7:30 p.m. game against the Falcons.

The Jaguars pregame show will air at 7;00 p.m. on WJXT-TV4, followed by kickoff between the Jaguars and Falcons. Jennifer Candelino and former Jaguar Tom McManus will host the pregame show. Sam Kouvaris and Jeff Lageman will call the game action, with McManus serving as field reporter.

For the eighth season, Brian Sexton and Matt Robinson will handle the radio call on WOKV (690 AM) and WKQL (96.9 FM). Candelino will be the preseason field reporter.
