Jaguars open camp

The Jacksonville Jaguars opened their 2005 training camp with a morning session in front of 2,387 fans with 87 players in attendance, including running back Fred Taylor.

"We're excited to get started. We have a lot of work to do. This time of year everybody should be excited. It's a fresh start and we're excited about it, so we're looking forward to the season," said head coach Jack Del Rio. "In terms of Fred Taylor, he will continue to rehab. He practiced today some and he'll continue to do that. We'll bring him along and monitor him day to day."

The Jaguars' first round draft pick wide receiver Matt Jones remains unsigned. He was the only player absent from the Saturday workouts.

"I think any time a rookie is not here, it's not to his benefit. But you know it happens everywhere every year. There is no sense in getting bent out of shape about it. I think it's to his advantage to be here and we hope to get him here soon," said Del Rio.

The Jaguars held their second practice session at 7:15 p.m. tonight under the lights on the practice fields at Alltel Stadium. Camp will continue on Sunday with two practice sessions at 11:00 a.m. (special teams practice) and 7:15 p.m. The first full-pads practice will be Monday evening.
