Jacksonville Jaguars safety Ricky Parker and running back Malcolm Thomas both started in the Amsterdam Admirals' 21-17 win over the Rhein Fire, who are currently leading the standings.
Parker had five tackles and one forced fumble, while Thomas had 54 yards on 14 carries, including a 10-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, and two receptions for 13 yards.
Thomas, a graduate of Jacksonville's Paxon High School, has recovering from a sprained ankle suffered two weeks ago. Despite limited play the last two weeks, he ranks second in the league in rushing with 629 yards on 138 carries (4.6 average) and four touchdowns. He is also second in the NFLEL with 765 total yards from scrimmage. Thomas spent the 1997 NFL season on the Jaguars' practice squad.
The action occurred in the ninth week of NFL Europe League play. The Admirals have a 6-3 record and are tied for second place in the league with one game remaining in the regular season. With an Amsterdam victory over Scotland and a loss by Frankfurt, the Admirals will play against the Rhein Fire in the World Bowl. The Admirals continue to lead the NFL Europe League in both total offense and total defense.
