JAGUARS PLACE CHEEVER ON INJURED RESERVE

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed center Michael Cheever on injured reserve. Cheever suffered a back injury, diagnosed as a herniated disc, in the November 23 game at Cincinnati. Dave Widell has started the last two games at center for the Jaguars.

Cheevr, 24, had taken over as the Jaguars' No. 1 center on November 2, starting for four games prior to his injury. He was a second-round draft choice in 1996 out of Georgia Tech.

The Jaguars now have 52 players on the roster, one below the league's roster limit. A roster move to fill Cheever's spot is anticipated.
