Jaguars Place Dillard on IR, Activate Hughes

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed rookie wide receiver Jarett Dillard on injured reserve because of a broken ankle he suffered in the team's 24-22 win on Sunday against the New York Jets. Dillard, the Jaguars' fifth-round draft choice this year out of Rice, had played in the last seven games and made six receptions for 106 yards.

Wide receiver Nate Hughes was activated from the practice squad to replace Dillard on the 53-man roster. Hughes played in the first two games this season, making three receptions for 15 yards, before being waived and signed to the practice squad on Sept. 23. The 6-2, 195-pound Hughes was also on the Jaguars roster for the final game of last season. Hughes, 24, began his NFL career as an undrafted rookie out of Alcorn State in 2008 when he signed with the Cleveland Browns.
