The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed defensive lineman Atiyyah Ellison on injured reserve and replaced him on the active roster with defensive back Kennard Cox. Ellison, 28, had played in all 15 games for the Jaguars this season, starting six, before suffering a knee injury last Sunday against the New England Patriots. Cox, 24, has played in four games for the Jaguars this season while spending 14 of the past 15 weeks on either the active roster or the team's practice squad.
Ellison made 28 tackles including one sack and two tackles for loss, adding four quarterback pressures and one pass defensed. The 6-3, 322-pound Ellison is in his second season out of Missouri. He signed with the Jaguars as a free agent in December of 2008.
Cox, a 6-0, 197-pound defender, is a first-year player out of Pittsburgh. He was a seventh-round draft choice of the Buffalo Bills in 2008 and signed with the Jaguars as a free agent in December of 2008. He has made four tackles on special teams for the Jaguars this season.
