JAGUARS PLACE LOGAN ON I.R., WAIVE ARMOUR, ACTIVATE CHAMBLIN AND SIGN STEWART

The Jacksonville Jaguars today made four roster moves: safety

Mike Logan was placed on injured reserve, safety JoJuan Armour

was waived and the team activated safety Corey Chamblin from the

practice squad and signed safety Rayna Stewart.

Logan suffered a fractured ankle while returning a kickoff in the

second quarter of yesterday's 22-20 victory over the Carolina

Panthers. A three-year pro, he had played in 28 games since being

chosen in the second round of the 1997 draft out of West Virginia.

Logan served as the Jaguars' nickel and dime back the last two

seasons.

Armour was signed September 7 but was inactive for the first two

games. He was a seventh-round draft choice of the Oakland

Raiders this year before being waived in the final cuts.

Stewart (pronounced ru-NAY), 26, is a four-year veteran who

spent the last three seasons with the Oilers and Dolphins. He has

played in 45 games, making four starts, in his three seasons, as well

as two playoff games. A fifth-round draft choice of the Houston

Oilers in 1996, Stewart played in 15 games as a rookie and all 16 in

'97, when he made four starts. He was waived by the Oilers on

August 30, 1998 and claimed by Miami two weeks later, appearing

in the final 14 games of the season. Stewart made the Dolphins'

53-man roster but then was waived on September 8. His career

totals are 37 tackles (31 solo) and one fumble recovery.

In college, Stewart started 33 of 42 games played at Northern

Arizona, seeing action at safety, cornerback and linebacker. He was

a candidate for the Buck Buchanan Award, given to the top

defensive player in Division I-AA, and was first-team Division

I-AA All-America. He was born in Oklahoma City, Okla, and

attended high school in Chatsworth, Calif. He and his wife, Sonia,

have a son, Rayna III.

Chamblin, 22, was signed to the Jaguars' practice squad on

September 7. He was signed as an undrafted rookie by the

Baltimore Ravens and spent training camp with the team before

being waived on September 5. Chamblin (5-11, 188), played in 43

games and made 35 starts in four years at Tennessee Tech.

Chamblin is a native of Birmingham, Ala.
