Jaguars Place Nickerson, Marts on Injured Reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars today placed linebackers Hardy Nickerson and Lonnie Marts on injured reserve.

Nickerson suffered a knee injury in the October 29 victory at Dallas and underwent arthroscopic surgery on November 3. It was hoped that he would return him to the lineup this month, but his recovery has been slow. A 14-year veteran who was signed as an unrestricted free agent in the offseason from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Nickerson played in six games (all starts), making 75 tackles, one sack and one interception.

Marts had been hampered by a groin injury that he originally suffered in the preseason. He started only three of seven games played this season, making 14 tackles and recovering one fumble in his second year with the Jaguars. It was hoped that Marts would return to action last Sunday, but he suffered a setback in Friday's practice.

The Jaguars' roster stands at 51 players, and two players are expected to be added on Wednesday.
