Jaguars Players - Falcons vs. Jaguars. Thursday, August 29, 2019

* JAGUARS QUARTERBACK GARDNER MINSHEW II*

(On the opportunities missed with penalties and turnovers) "Absolutely, it's super frustrating. We didn't play well enough; I didn't play well enough, so you have to take it and learn from the things that go wrong and move forward."

(On the frustration of finishing the preseason without a TD drive) "Oh, absolutely, it's very frustrating. Ideally, you want to score touchdowns and when you don't, that's not ideal. Now, my focus is the next time I get an opportunity, I'll be as ready as I can be."

(On what he feels he needs to work on over the next 10 days) "Yeah, we'll check the film and go from there. There's a lot to get ready for when you play a new defense, a lot of studying we've got to do, and we'll learn more and be able to go from there."

(On Nick Foles and what he can do in the regular season) "Yeah, he's a stud, he's going to be really good for us. Really excited for him and what he's going to be able to do."

(On the offensive line and the guys that went down in the first quarter) "Hate that for the guys that went down. Praying for them for a speedy recovery. That's definitely a blow any time you lose somebody, but anybody in this locker room, we trust. There's a reason they're here. It's because we believe in what they can do. It's unfortunate, but it's good for those guys."

JAGUARS LINEBACKER LEON JACOBS

(On his reps tonight against Atlanta) "I think today was good, just getting my confidence up. I ended last year getting hurt, so the past four games, I have been trying to get back to where I was last year. I was able to rush some downs, too, so it was good."

(On the season opener against Kansas City) "It's real exciting to get one of the best offenses in the NFL to come to your house. It's going to be a good game."

(On injuries at the linebacker position.) "One man goes down, another man comes up. I think Najee [Goode] did a good job when Q [Quincy Williams] went down; he assumed that really well. Myles [Jack] did a good job with leadership with Telvin [Smith] out this year. He has got the group together and everyone's just been doing their part."

JAGUARS DT ELI ANKOU

(On if he thinks he will secure a spot on the team this upcoming season) "Whatever is going to happen is going to happen. At this point all the guys played the last preseason game as the best as they could. So at this point everything is on the table, so it's up to the higher office to see what happens."

(On if he does not make the team this season) "I don't think so because for me this has always been on my mind. This has always been a dream of mine and I've been chasing it in my head for the longest. If it doesn't happen it just doesn't. This last preseason game I gave everything that I got and now it's up to who they decide to pick. I'll wait as long as it takes because this is my profession and over the years I improved my game."

(On how his stock will grow if he makes the team and improves on the field) " It could because I listen to my teammates like Campbell [Calais] and he teaches me and it helps me out there on the field. If I keep doing what I'm doing then I think I will be pretty good out there on the field and making big plays on the field."

JAGUARS WIDE RECEIVER TYRE BRADY

(On his performance vs. Atlanta.) "I had two drops. One before halftime, I could've made that play. Just some mistakes on offense."

(On playing against Atlanta with a lot on the line) "It was just football at the end of the day. You have to always make your plays count. That's football, no matter what the player's situation is."

(On if he's happy with his performance overall) "Yeah, definitely. I'm happy with what I put on film out here."

JAGUARS QUARTERBACK ALEX MCGOUGH

(On how hard it is to wait the entire game to play) "It's tough, but you have to understand everyone. We have a lot of love in the quarterback group, between me, Nick and Gardner, and it's easy to support those guys when they're out there. It's like my 'bro' is out there playing ball and I want to support him. At the same time, you want to play. But I think the more you're into it and supportive, the better it is and the easier it is to stay ready and sustain it to the end."

(On his plans for the next 48 hours) "My cousin is in town, so we'll just hang out at the house, might shoot some hoops or something. I don't know, we might just have to make something up."

(On any indication whether 2 or 3 quarterbacks will be kept) "Oh, I don't know."

(On the feeling to actually get to get out there and play) "Yeah, I love football. I love just playing and I love the rush. It feels good when you take a snap from the back and people are trying to come get you. My job is not letting them get me and getting the ball into a receiver's hands. I love everything about it. Every time I get an opportunity, I go back to my childhood days. I go out there to have fun and play. It's just my natural instinct to take it over."
