JAGUARS RE-SIGN DEREK BROWN

The Jacksonville Jaguars today re-signed tight end Derek Brown, who was an unrestricted free agent. Length and terms of the contract are undisclosed.

Brown, 26, started 14 games in 1996 after missing all of the 1995 season with injuries. He caught 17 passes for 141 yards. A five-year veteran, Brown was acquired by the Jaguars in the 1995 expansion draft from the New York Giants.

He is the first of five unrestricted free agents to re-sign with the team. The Jaguars' roster now stands at 67 players, including the four remaining unsigned unrestricted free agents -- G Ben Coleman, CB Dave Thomas, DE Paul Frase and DE Ernie Logan -- and the five unsigned restricted free agents -- TE Rich Griffith, LB Ty Hallock, C Greg Huntington, WR Willie Jackson and RB Randy Jordan.
