JAGUARS RE-SIGN JORDAN; ADD TWO TO PRACTICE SQUAD

The Jacksonville Jaguars today re-signed running back Randy Jordan and signed linebacker Tyrone Hines and wide receiver Donnell Baker to their practice squad.

Jordan was one of the original 10 Jaguars who signed contracts with the team on December 15, 1994. He re-joins Greg Huntington as the only two members of that group on the current roster. Jordan, 27, played in 1995 and '96 with the Jaguars and was waived on August 19 in the cut to 60 players. He holds the distinction of being the first player in franchise history to score a touchdown. Jordan scored on a 71-yard pass from Steve Beuerlein against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 10, 1995. He is expected to shore up the team's special teams. Last year he tied for fourth on the team with 14 tackles on special teams.

Hines, 24, was an undrafted rookie out of Tennessee who spent the 1997 training camp with the New York Jets and was released in the team's cut to 60 players. He played in 35 games and started 29 in three seasons. He led the Volunteers in tackles as a senior and was second as a junior. Hines was named Defensive MVP of the 1997 Citrus Bowl, and he played in the Gator Bowl against Virginia Tech as a sophomore. He is a native of Brownsville, Tenn.

Baker, 23, was a seventh-round draft pick (193rd overall) of the Carolina Panthers in 1996 who spent 16 weeks on the teamĀ¹s practice squad before being elevated to the active roster for the final game, although he was inactive. He spent the 1997 training camp with the St. Louis Rams before being waived on August 19. Baker caught 40 passes for 632 yards and five TDs as a senior at Southern after transferring from Southwestern Louisiana. He is a native of Baton Rouge, La.
