The Jacksonville Jaguars today released veteran placekicker Steve Christie and waived linebackers Jimmy McClain and Kenny Jackson.
Christie, 36, signed with the Jaguars on August 26 as a veteran free agent. The 6-0, 195-pound kicker was with the Chargers from 2001 to 2003, playing in 37 games and converting 42 of 57 field goals. He has played in 213 games and has made 314 of 403 field goals, and hit on 435 of 440 extra points. He has 1,377 points in his career which ranks 15th all-time in the NFL.
McClain, a third-year veteran who was signed by the Jaguars on January 26, spent the 2004 offseason in NFL Europe with the Scottish Claymores. Jackson, a first-year free agent, had signed with the Jaguars before training camp on July 21.
The Jaguars' roster now stands at 65 players, and the team has until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5 to get down to the 53-man roster limit.
