The Jacksonville Jaguars today claimed first-year linebacker Roy Manning and released veteran free agent linebacker Chris Claiborne. The eighth-year veteran has been signed to a contract on August 26.
Manning, 26, was waived by the Buffalo Bills on Monday and was claimed by the Jaguars off waivers. The 6-2, 245-pound linebacker was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent by Green Bay on April 25, 2005 out of Michigan. He started two of 15 games with the Packers in 2005 and played in one game with Houston in 2006 before being released on Oct. 20, 2006.
The Jaguars will host the Washington Redskins on Thursday night in the team's preseason finale at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. The game will be televised live in Jacksonville on WTEV CBS 47, and on the Jaguars Radio Network on WOKV AM/FM (690, 106.5).
Paul Burmeister will handle the play by play and Tony Boselli will serve as the color analyst for the telecast. For the fifth straight season together, Brian Sexton and Jeff Lageman will call the game on the Jaguars Radio Network.
The Suddath Pregame Show will begin at 6:30 p.m. on WOKV AM/FM (690, 106.5) and the Jaguars Radio Network. The Coggin Pregame Show, hosted by Dennis Evans and Lee Gordon, will air at 7:00 p.m. on WTEV CBS 47.
