The Jacksonville Jaguars today released safety Harry Colon and offensive tackle Bruce Wilkerson. The Jaguars' roster is now 67 players (including six unsigned free agents), and they have 11 selections in this weekend's college draft.
Colon, 27, started all 16 games in 1995. He led the team with three interceptions and was fourth in tackles with 80 stops. He was one of seven players, including five on defense, who started every game, with 11 starts at strong safety and five at free safety. A five-year veteran, Colon made the first interception in franchise history September 17 at the New York Jets. He was selected by the Jaguars with the 23rd pick in the 1995 expansion draft from the Detroit Lions.
Wilkerson played in 10 games with no starts after joining the Jaguars on June 15, 1995 as an unrestricted free agent. A veteran of nine NFL seasons, he served as a backup offensive tackle and played on special teams. It was the first season of his career that the 31-year old did not start any games, after spending eight years with the Los Angeles Raiders.
The deadline for Jaguars season ticket holders to apply for the parking lottery is Friday, April 19. More than 400 parking spaces in Lot H (next to Metropolitan Park) are available for $186.38 payable to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the blue envelope they received last month. Fans who have lost their blue envelope should send in a regular envelope and write ³Parking² on the outside. In addition, fans who purchase season tickets between now and April 19 are eligible for the parking lottery. Parking passes will be distributed alongwith season tickets in July.
Media Reminder: Because of several events occurring simultaneously in the Sports Complex area on Draft Day, parking passes are being distributed by request to media who will be covering the draft. Contact Dave Auchter to make arrangements to pick up parking credentials in advance. Media parking will be in Lot M on the west side of the stadium. The media workroom (team meeting room) will open at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
