The Jacksonville Jaguars today released wide receiver Gregory Spann, their second of two seventh-round picks in this year's draft.

Spann, from Jackson State, was the 228th player drafted overall. The 23-year-old Spann is the first of this year' draft choices released by the Jaguars. The other 19 draft picks from 1995 and '96 are still on the roster.

The Jaguars' roster now stands at 78. All 30 NFL teams must reduce their roster to 60 players by 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.

Tickets for the Jaguars' regular-season home opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 1 go on sale at 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the Jaguars Ticket Window at the stadium for fans attending the Jaguars-49ers game. Phone sales begin at 8:00 a.m. Monday (633-2000).

Tickets are still available for the game against the 49ers by phone or at the ticket window today.
