The Jacksonville Jaguars signed 2008 seventh-round pick Chauncey Washington to a contract today. Length and terms of contract were not disclosed.
Washington, the only offensive player drafted by the Jaguars in 2008, started 14 games at USC at running back and posted career totals of 1,778 yards and 19 touchdowns. Washington, 5-11, 224, led USC in rushing his final two seasons and finished with four career 100-yard rushing games. He rushed for a team-high 969 rushing yards on 195 carries with 10 touchdowns in 2007 including a career-high 202 yards at California. He averaged 80.7 rushing yards per game.
A native of Torrance, Calif., Washington was the 213th overall pick and is the first of the club's five draft picks to sign. The Jaguars report to training camp on Friday, July 25 with the first practice set for Saturday, July 26.
