The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-round draft choice defensive tackle Clenton Ballard and seventh-round cornerback Steve Smith.
Ballard, a 6-2, 313-pounder from Southwest Texas State, was the 180th selection overall in the April draft. The two-time All-Conference selection recorded 231 career tackles and 10.5 sacks. He is a native of San Antonio, Texas.
Smith, a 6-1, 204-pounder from Oregon, was the 247th selection overall and the first of the Jaguars compensatory picks. A four-year letterman, he collected 99 tackles (79 solo) and 14 interceptions, including eight as a senior, which ranks third-best in school history. He is a native of San Pedro, Calif.
Ballard and Smith are the fourth and fifth of the team's nine draft choices to sign a contract.
