The Jacksonville Jaguars signed rookie offensive tackle Sean Bubin to a contract today. Bubin was the one of the Jaguars' three fifth round selections and one of the 10 players selected in the 2004 NFL Draft in April. He is the first Jaguars draft pick to sign a contract.
"We are excited to have Sean signed to a contract. We look forward to having him in training camp. Sean has put his contract issues behind him and will take a short vacation and will be ready to go at camp," said senior vice president of football operations Paul Vance. "Sean is the first of the 10 rookie draft picks to sign, but we hope to continue to sign a number of rookies over the next couple of weeks and have all of the rookies signed to contracts before training camp begins."
Bubin, 23, was the 159th overall selection in the draft. The 6-6, 306-pound offensive tackle was a three-year starter at Illinois after playing in every game as a redshirt freshman in 2000. The Houston, Texas native allowed only one sack in 36 games as a starter and earned first-team All-Conference as a senior.
