Jaguars sign CB Ashton Youboty, DE George Selvie

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed sixth-year cornerback Ashton Youboty and second-year defensive end George Selvie to the active roster. 

Youboty, 5-11, 189, is in his sixth NFL season and played in 44 games with seven starts for the Buffalo Bills the last five seasons.  He was a third-round draft pick of the Bills in 2006 and spent the 2011 preseason with Tampa Bay.  He has 54 career tackles, one interception, two sacks and seven passes defensed.  In 2010 he played in a career-high 14 games and had one special teams tackle for Buffalo. 

Youboty, who was born in Monrovia, Liberia, played in 36 games with 22 starts at Ohio State.  He played two seasons (2003-04) under Jaguars defensive coordinator Mel Tucker.  Youboty declared for the draft following his junior season when he was a first-team All-Big Ten selection.  

Selvie, 6-4, 251, is a native of Pensacola and played collegiately at South Florida.  He was a seventh-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2010 and played in all 16 games as a rookie, finishing with 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks.  He was claimed off waivers by Carolina on Sept. 4, 2011 and saw action in four games for the Panthers including against the Jaguars on Sept. 25.  Selvie played in 51 games with 50 starts at South Florida and holds every school game, season and career record for sacks and tackles for loss.  He ranked second in NCAA history with 69.5 tackles for loss and had 29 career sacks.  As a junior, he earned first-team All-America honors after recording 14.5 sacks and 31.5 tackles for loss.
