Jaguars sign Johnson

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed unrestricted free agent quarterback Doug Johnson who had spent his first four seasons in the NFL with Atlanta.

Johnson, 26, started eight games at quarterback for the Falcons last season in place of Michael Vick, who broke his leg in the preseason. The 6-2, 225-pounder completed 136 of 243 passes for 1,655 yards with eight touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for one touchdown. The fifth-year veteran originally signed with Atlanta as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2000 after playing collegiately at the University of Florida.

Johnson will join the rookies and veterans at the Jaguars minicamp this weekend. With the addition of Johnson, there are now 88 players on the roster.
