The Jacksonville Jaguars signed 2013 sixth-round draft pick Josh Evans to a contract, the club announced today.  All eight of the club's draft picks are under contract and are scheduled to report to training camp on Monday, July 22.  Veterans will report to training camp on Thursday, July 25 with the first practice set for the following day at 9:55 a.m.

"We are happy to get Josh signed and have all 90 players under contract as we get set for training camp," Jaguars general manager David Caldwell said.  "Josh had a productive offseason of work and will continue to improve with more experience.  As Coach Bradley has stated numerous times, our central theme is competition each day and all of our young players will have an opportunity to play a role this season.  We want to build off what we established in the offseason as we get prepared for the regular season."

"I can't wait to get to work on Monday," Evans said.  "I'm excited to be a part of this organization and what it stands for.  I'm committed to getting on the field whether it's special teams or defense and make the best of my opportunity."

Evans, 6-0, 205, played in 47 games with 24 starts for Florida before he was selected with the 169th overall pick.   He finished his career with 154 tackles (101 solo) along with 3.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and five interceptions.  He started 21 games over his last two seasons and led the team with a career-high 83 tackles as a senior along with 2.5 sacks and three picks.

As a junior in 2011, Evans made eight starts at free safety and ranked fifth on the team with 51 stops.  The Irvington, N.J. native played quarterback and safety at Irvington High School where he rushed for 14 touchdowns and threw for 18 more.  He also lettered in track where he competed in hurdles, relay and high jump.
