Jaguars Sign Marlon McCree, Waive Two

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed veteran safety Marlon McCree, a former Jaguars draft choice who played for the team from 2001-03. The team also waived two rookies, defensive tackle Nader Abdallah and safety Kevin Patterson.

McCree, a 32-year-old native of Orlando, was drafted by the Jaguars in the seventh round out of Kentucky in 2001. He started in 27 of his 31 games in Jacksonville before being waived during the 2003 season. Now in his ninth year in the NFL, he has played for Houston, Carolina, San Diego and Denver over the last six seasons. He has played in 114 career games with 91 starts including eight games with Denver in 2008. He has recorded 16 career interceptions along with 478 tackles and 40 passes defensed in eight seasons.

Adballah signed with the Jaguars on May 4 after participating in the May 1-3 mini-camp as a tryout player. The 23-year-old Abdallah, who is from Metairie, La., played in 35 games in his college career at Ohio State.

Patterson joined the Jaguars April 26 as a free agent following the NFL draft. Patterson, 23, was a four-year starter at Wake Forest following his high school days at Camden County (Ga.) High School.
