Jaguars sign McClain, allocate six to NFL Europe

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed free agent linebacker Jimmy McClain. He was originally an undrafted rookie free agent of the Houston Texans in 2002 and was released by the Texans on Nov.17, 2003.

The 6-0, 231-pounder from Troy State played in nine games for the Texans last season, primarily on special teams and making six special teams tackles. He played in 15 games in 2002 and finished with eight special teams tackles, one safety and blocked a punt at Washington that was recovered for a touchdown. He will wear jersey No. 48.

McClain is one of the six players allocated to NFL Europe by the Jaguars today. He joins LBs Hakim Akbar and Curtis Randall, DB Chris Brown, G Konrad Dean, and OT Marques Ogden. Of the six, Akbar, Brown and Ogden spent time on the Jaguars active roster.
