The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed linebacker Richard Hogans, who played with the Memphis Maniax of the XFL this spring. Hogans is the 56th player on the Jaguars' roster.

Hogans is a 6-2, 253-pounder from the University of Memphis who was a sixth-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears in 1997. He spent his rookie season on injured reserve and was released during the 1998 training camp. In 1999 and 2000, he was assigned by the San Diego Chargers to the NFL Europe League, where he played for the Rhein Fire and Berlin Thunder, earning All-NFL Europe honors in '00. Hogans is a native of Columbus, Ga.
