Jaguars sign safety C.C. Brown, place Darcel McBath on injured reserve

The Jacksonville Jaguars today signed seventh-year safety C.C. Brown and placed safety Darcel McBath on injured reserve with a forearm injury.  First-year center Bradley Vierling was signed to the practice squad and linebacker Sidney Tarver was waived from the practice squad.

Brown, 6-0, 208, has played in 81 games with 62 starts over six seasons. He was originally a sixth-round draft pick of the Houston Texans in 2005 and started 47 games for the club over four seasons.  He spent the 2009 season with the New York Giants where he played in all 16 games with seven starts.  In 2010 he started eight of 15 games with Detroit.  He has not been on a roster in 2011.

A native of Greenwood, Mississippi, Brown played two seasons for Louisiana-Lafayette.  He was a two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection.  He began his collegiate career at Mississippi Delta Community College.

Vierling, 6-3, 290, spent the 2011 preseason with the Jaguars before he was placed on injured reserve on August 31 and was waived/injured on Sept. 1. Vierling was originally signed as a rookie free agent by Pittsburgh in 2010 before he was signed to the Jaguars practice squad on Sept. 6 where he spent the entire season.  A native of Warminster, Pennsylvania, he was a three-year letterman and two-year starter at Vanderbilt.
