The Jaguars signed veteran free agent defensive end Bo Schobel today and placed third-year defensive end James Wyche on the waived/injured list after he suffered an Achilles injury in training camp this week.
Scobel, 27, played in two games for the Arizona Cardinals last season before being waived on July 21, 2008. The 6-5, 264-pound defensive end enters his fifth NFL season after spending time with Arizona, Indianapolis and Tennessee. The Columbus, Texas native has played in 29 career games with two starts and has recorded 49 career tackles, 1.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was a member of the Indianapolis Colts' Super Bowl Championship team in 2006. He was a former fourth-round pick in 2004 by the Titans out of Texas Christian. He will wear jersey No. 99.
Wyche, 26, has spent the last two seasons on the Jaguars roster after being selected in the seventh round of the 2006 NFL Draft out of Syracuse. The 6-5, 275-pound defensive end spent the 2007 season on injured reserve with a groin injury suffered in the preseason.
