Jaguars Sign Thompson

The Jacksonville Jaguars signed veteran safety Lamont Thompson to a contract today. The sixth-year veteran had been released by the Miami Dolphins on Oct. 10 after signing as a veteran free agent on Sept. 11. He played in three games with the Dolphins and recorded one special teams tackle.

Thompson, 29, played for the Tennessee Titans for the last four seasons after being signed as a free agent in 2003. He was released by the Titans in final cuts on Sept. 1. The 6-1, 215-pound safety was originally selected in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft by Cincinnati out of Washington State. He has played in 80 career games with 45 starts and has recorded 234 tackles (190 solo), nine interceptions and one sack. He will wear jersey No. 34.
