Jaguars tender six players

The Jaguars have tendered contract offers today to six restricted free agents: CB Ahmad Carroll, LB/DE Jorge Cordova, QB Quinn Gray, DE Bobby McCray, PK Josh Scobee and WR Ernest Wilford. The Jaguars also tendered two exclusive right free agents: DE Kenny Pettway and RB/KR Derrick Wimbush.

Carroll, 23, played in one game with the Jaguars after being waived by the Green Bay Packers on October 3. The 5-10, 190-pound cornerback was originally drafted in the first round of 2004 out of Arkansas. He has started 28 of 35 career games with 104 tackles (95 solo), three sacks and three interceptions.

Cordova, 25, played in 13 games last season after missing his first two seasons on injured reserve. The 6-1, 241-pounder recorded three tackles on defense and eight tackles and one blocked punt on special teams. He was originally a third-round pick out of Nevada-Reno in 2004.

Gray, 27, saw extensive action in the season-finale at Kansas City and completed 13 of 22 passes for 166 yards. He added two rushes for 26 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-3, 246-pound quarterback was originally signed as an undrafted rookie out of Florida A&M in 2002.

McCray, 25, started a career-high 12 games replacing Reggie Hayward who was placed on injured reserve. The 6-6, 251-pounder led the team with 10 sacks in 15 games and added 49 tackles and two forced fumbles. The former seventh round pick in 2004 out of Florida has started 20 of 47 games with 97 tackles and 19 sacks.

Scobee, 24, played in all 16 games and finished fifth in the NFL with a career-high 119 points on 26 of 32 field goals. He added 21 touchbacks that ranked second in the NFL. The 6-1, 190-pounder has played in all 48 game since being drafted in the fifth round of the 2004 draft out of Louisiana Tech. He has converted 78.5 percent (73 of 93) of career field goals for 319 points.

Wilford, 28, started 12 of 16 games last season and recorded 36 receptions for 524 yards and two touchdowns. The 6-4, 218-pounder has started 23 of his 47 career games with 96 receptions for 1,476 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was originally drafted in the fourth round of the 2004 draft out of Virginia Tech.
