The Jacksonville Jaguars have waived DE Michael Mason and signed FB Jermaine Williams.
Williams, 27, is a third-year pro who played in 25 games with the Oakland Raiders in 1998 and '99, mostly on special teams, where he made 20 tackles. He was originally signed as an undrafted rookie by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1997 but was waived during training camp. The 6-0, 230-pound Williams was a four-year letterman at Houston, where he rushed for 887 yards and scored five touchdowns. He is a native of Greeneville, N.C. Williams will wear jersey No. 43.
Mason had been signed to their practice squad last Wednesday and then activated to the 53-man roster on Saturday. He was inactive for Sunday's game at Dallas.
