The Jacksonville Jaguars and WJXT-TV today agreed to continue their partnership, which began last year. WJXT has been the Jaguars' official TV station, but the contract between the two entities had been impacted by WJXT's pending move to become an independent station.
"We are excited about continuing with Channel 4," said Jaguars chairman/CEO Wayne Weaver. "We believe in partnerships, continuity, and quality, and we are pleased with the new elements and modifications which developed from our discussions. Jaguars fans will have much to look forward to, and we expect more excellent in-depth coverage from the Channel 4 team and our own broadcast productions."
"It's a valued partnership that we worked to keep," said Sherry Burns, vice president and general manager of WJXT, "and we're delighted that the team believes in our future and is sticking with us."
As the Jaguars' broadcast partner, WJXT will again air all Jaguars programs, including all four preseason games and preseason pregame shows, The Tom Coughlin Show, Jaguars Pregame Show, Jaguars End Zone, and specials throughout the year. There will also be a new Thursday night show this season. The Tom Coughlin show, which aired at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday nights last year, will now air at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays with a 12:15 a.m. Sunday re-airing.
