Jawaan Taylor - Friday, April 26, 2019

(On the truth about medical reports about him) "Yes, the medical reports were definitely false. I am 100 percent healthy and ready to go. It hurt me a little bit last night – you see what the reason was why I didn't get picked. It is what it is. Now, I'm picked and I'm ready to go."

(On if his meniscus is injured) "No, not at all. My meniscus was torn in 2017, and I played my whole sophomore season on that. I got the surgery after the season. I played my whole junior season healthy and have been healthy ever since."

(On if he's angry about the medical reports causing him to drop) "I'm a little bit upset, but everything happens for a reason. God has a plan for me, so it is what it is."

(On his workout with the Jaguars) "It was a great workout. Me and [offensive line coach] [George] Warhop got around a little bit. We got in the indoor [practice facility], and I did what I had to do. It was a great workout."

(On how he thinks Florida Director of Football Strength and Conditioning Nick Savage prepared him) "They prepared me a great deal – Coach Savage is a great coach. He came in here, changed the culture for us, brought us closer together as a team. It really taught us how to win and how to play together. The weight program paid great dividends and he did a great job with us."

(On how he spent today) "I just sat around with my family, waiting. I had to stay patient and prayed up – just praying all day and all last night. We were seeing what God had for me, and we just had to stay patient. The whole day I was really not doing anything but just praying and talking to my family."

(On how excited he is to have an opportunity to start from Day 1) "It's a great, great excitement. I have been dreaming about this since I was a kid. I'm only two hours away from home, so it's a great big deal for me. I'm looking forward to coming in and competing right away."

(On what he thinks of Jaguars first-round pick DE/LB Josh Allen) "He's a great guy. Me and Josh are great friends. I'm so happy that we finally get to be on the same team and play together, get each other better every day. I'm going to get him better, he's going to get me better. I am just very happy. He's a great guy and they made a great pick last night by taking him. I'm more than happy to be his teammate."

(On how he knows Josh Allen) "We played against each other every year against Kentucky – my three years [at Florida]. We trained together for the NFL Combine at EXOs in Pensacola, Florida. We grew a lot closer. Me and Josh are great friends. We still talk. We texted every day leading up to the draft and I'm more than happy for him."

(On if Josh Allen has texted him since he was drafted) "No. He's been pretty busy every day. He had to go visit the team and stuff, but I will definitely catch back up with him."

(On if not running at the NFL Combine or Florida's Pro Day hurt his draft stock) "Maybe it did raise a little concern. I had a hamstring issue, but my hamstring was completely healthy. When they came to Pro Day, my doctor decided I shouldn't have run again. It wasn't my decision. They didn't want me to make the injury worse. I did position work, and I feel like I did a good job. It is what it is. I'm just happy to be a part of the Jaguars."

(On how close he is with Taven Bryan) "Very close. That is another guy – he always motivated me and got me better in practice every day. I look forward to playing with him again. He's a great guy. He called me during the draft process a few times and just made sure I was staying on top of things and made sure I was looking for certain things at the combine and stuff like that. He was being a good big brother to me."

(On if his mindset is to win the starting job) "Most definitely. I look forward to coming in and competing right away. I had to do the same thing at Florida – I came in and started every game my freshman year. I'm definitely looking forward to coming in and competing right away."

(On something that most people don't know about him) "I just love to fish. In my downtime, that's all I do. I go fishing. I'm not a big video game guy. Anytime I have free time or sitting around the house, I'm fishing on the river or the lake somewhere."

(On if Jacksonville is a good landing spot) "Most definitely. It's definitely close to me. All my family is in Cocoa, Florida – two hours up the road. It is definitely a great fit for me."
