Jay Fund to top million mark

(April 23)--Tom Coughlin is no longer the Jaguars' head coach, but Coughlin's Jay Fund charity golf tournament continues to flourish. The eighth annual Jay Fund event is set for May 4-5, and this year's proceeds are expected to put the event over the $1 million in its total donations.

"We're going into our eighth annual event and we're looking for this event to be a continuation of what we've done. We do the kinds of things that are not done by any group anywhere," Coughlin said of his tournament and foundation, which is named in honor of Jay McGillis, a former player of Coughlin's at Boston College. McGillis died of leukemia at 21.

The two-day event begins with a dinner and silent auction at the Ponte Vedra Inn and Club on Sunday, May 4. It concludes the following day with its signature golf tournament at Marsh Landing Country Club. The event benefits Jacksonville area children who suffer from leukemia and other forms of cancer.
