Jacksonville Jaguars Celebrate 2025 Play Football Month: Empowering The Youth

PLAY FOOTBALL THUMB

Through Jaguars PREP, the Jacksonville Jaguars are doing their part to build a pipeline of youth and flag athletes. The team annually hosts a series of events, camps, tournaments and more, giving student athletes the opportunity to grow their football and leadership skills.

On June 27, 225 girls flag athletes joined the Jaguars and Jaguars PREP at Providence School for a Girls PREP Prospect Camp. Athletes, ages 7-17, had the opportunity to compete at this elite skills level camp through drills and games.

Also in attendance were Jaguars LB Foyesade Oluokun and London Jenkins, U.S. Women's National Flag Football team member, NJCAA Women's Flag Football National Champion, 2024 Jaguars PREP Girls Flag Player of the Year and Fleming Island High School graduate. Jenkins spoke with the athletes prior to the camp reflecting on her early days playing the sport and the support she's received from Jaguars PREP to date.

The following day, the Jaguars returned to host 16 girls high school flag football teams for the 2025 Girls Flag Summer Tournament. Teams from Northeast Florida, the Florida Panhandle and Southeast Georgia competed in round-robin games with Choctawhatchee High School (Fort Walton Beach, Fla.) taking home the championship win. Participants also competed in a tug-of-war competition with Southeast Bulloch High School (Brooklet, Ga.) winning the belt.

NIKE 11 ON FOR ARTICLE

The Jaguars and Jaguars PREP continued their summer of youth football campaign on July 10 by hosting the Nike 11-On Tournament with 16 boys high school football teams participating. Student-athletes across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia played in a series of pool play games and single elimination playoff style bracket with Bradford High School (Starke, Fla.) taking home the 2025 7v7 tournament championship title. Teams also competed in a linemen challenge, a series of competitions emphasizing their strength, agility and teamwork, with Columbia High School (Lake City, Fla.) achieving the trophy.

The Boys PREP Prospect Camp was held for boys ages 8-15 on July 11 with more than 200 athletes joining the Jaguars and U.S. Men's National Flag Football Team quarterback, Darrell "Housh" Doucette III, for the elite skills camp. Doucette spoke to the athletes about his journey in flag football, competing at the highest level and representing the United States on an international stage.

"The Jaguars are committed to giving every athlete the opportunity to compete at a high level, and we feel these camps and tournaments provide those opportunities for hundreds of athletes to not only develop but fall in love with the sport," said Adriel Rocha, Jaguars vice president of community impact and football development.

Prior to the NFL FLAG Championships in Canton, OH, nine of the 11 teams representing the Jaguars gathered at the Jaguars’ performance facility, the Miller Electric Center, for a celebratory sendoff. The Jaguars were a force to be reckoned with as the Jaguars Elite 14U boys were undefeated and named the 2025 NFL FLAG Champions for their division.

The 14U Boys NFL FLAG Champions, along with more than 40 Jaguars Elite girls flag athletes (ages 7-17) and more than 40 local high school boys athletes, were recognized at Back Together Sunday, July 27, during the Jaguars Training Camp. The kids interacted with Jaguars players as they entered the field for practice and received autographs and were recognized by Head Coach Liam Coen to the crowd of spectators.

Jaguars PREP and Baker Sporting Goods partnered together again this year for their High School Media Day on Aug. 1. Sixty high schools and over 350 athletes and coaches from North Florida and Southeast Georgia spent the afternoon at EverBank Stadium interviewing with local media about their upcoming seasons.

HS MEDIA DAY

The Play Football preseason game on Aug. 9 rounds out the summer campaign. More than 7,000 tickets were donated to local youth teams and organizations to recognize their achievements for winning recent Jaguars PREP tournaments. At the game, the Jaguars will be recognizing the winning teams for both the 2025 Girls Flag Summer Tournament and the Nike 11-On Tournament. In addition, the Jaguars will also host Terry Parker High School and the winners from each division of the Jaguars' January Bold Gold Games in different activations.

To show support of Jaguars PREP, Jaguars players will be wearing custom "PREP" thigh pads hold the PREP flag for the game. During halftime, two local 12U flag football teams, Jaguars Elite and Fusion, will hit the field for a flag football game under EverBank Stadium’s lights.

"The Jaguars and Jaguars PREP strive to support athletes throughout Northeast Florida by providing pathways, events, trainings and experiences to elevate our athletes," said Rocha. "We believe recognizing their achievements on and off the field, providing free camps, tournaments, experiences and NFL resources allow for athletes and teams to develop and put their best foot forward which we will always support."

Last week, 11 teams represented the Jaguars in their respective divisions at the 2025 NFL FLAG Championships in Canton, Ohio as they competed in nationally televised games. We are so proud of all the athletes. Our 14u boys Jaguars elite team brought home the championship and put Jacksonville flag football on the map!
