The Jacksonville Jaguars today waived injured wide receiver Jermaine Lewis and elevated rookie defensive tackle Anthony Maddox from the practice squad.
Lewis, who had been signed by the Jaguars on March 23, 2003, played in nine games for the Jaguars this season as the team's primary kick returner. The ninth-year veteran returned 23 punts for 227 yards and 20 kickoffs for 366 yards. He also had one reception for four yards.
Maddox, 25, was selected by the Jaguars in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL draft with the 118th overall pick out of Delta State. The 6-1, 295-pound defensive tackle spent the first 13 weeks of the season on the practice squad after being waived on Sept. 5. He will wear jersey No. 91.
