McCARDELL SUFFERS LEG INJURY

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Keenan McCardell suffered a

leg injury in practice today and will be out indefinitely. X-rays were

negative, but the diagnosis showed a deep contusion of the soft

tissue in his lower right leg. He is being treated accordingly.

The injury occurred on a running play near the end of the morning

practice. "We were one play away from finishing, and all of a

sudden my head snapped back when I heard the noise," said

Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin.

With two practices on Thursday, the Jaguars finished the last of

their two-a-days of this year's training camp. The team will have a

closed walk-through on Friday before leaving for New Jersey. The

Jaguars will face the New York Giants at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at

Giants Stadium.

The final day of training camp will be Monday, August 23, with a

3:20 p.m. practice scheduled. That will be the final practice that is

open to the public this season.

Quarterback Mark Brunell returned to practice after missing

Wednesday's session because of a groin injury. "He felt all right this

morning and didn't feel any real problems," said Coughlin. "It looks

like he's recovering nicely."

Offensive tackle Tony Boselli missed practice for the third day

because of a bruised knee, and Coughlin said, "It doesn't look like

he'll play (against the Giants)."

Running back Tavian Banks is nearly back to full speed after being

limited for the last week and a half because of a hamstring injury.

"He's not in that other gear, and quite frankly we don't want him in

that other gear just yet," said Coughlin. "But it's good to have him

and Fred (Taylor) get knocked around a little bit because they

haven't had much of that. They seemed to respond well and they're

making progress." Taylor has been nursing a rib injury.
