'Playbooks' available today

The Jaguars Foundation will have the 2006-2007 edition of The Official Playbooks® available at local public library branches in Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau and St. Johns Counties starting today, September 11, 2006 through January 1, 2007 or while supplies last.

Playbooks, the Jaguars Foundation's effort to promote reading and utilization of the public library to children and families by sharing a list of books, in all age groups, that inspire, educate or entertain. Playbooks is sponsored by PEPSI with additional support from REEBOK.

This year's exciting edition features the Jaguars defensive tackles, #99 Marcus Stroud and #98 John Henderson, on its cover and in TV and radio public service announcements (PSAs). The TV PSA debuted at Alltel Stadium on the stadium video screens during the September 10 season opener. This spot will continue to air throughout the football season in the stadium and on local television stations.

This edition's theme, "On the Road Again," highlights the Jaguars' away game destinations with a special section on Jacksonville. The Jaguars' owners, head coach, vice president of player personnel, players, the ROAR, and JAXSON de Ville are featured with books that relate to an away game location or Northeast Florida. Other special items of interest in the booklet include puzzles, a contest for kids and reading tips for parents.

Enhancing the Playbooks booklet is a website, accessible at www.jaguars.com , which allows for more interaction by the public and provides an opportunity for classrooms to use as a teaching tool. The interactive website also includes games for kids, tips for parents and links to other reading sites. Jaguars players continue to be featured on the site, some with audio and video recordings.

The Dalton Agency, which has designed Playbooks each year since the program's inception, also designed and programmed the Playbooks website.
